The Force will be running onto their home field at UWA Sports Park proudly wearing the states gold and black colours in this Sunday’s game against the NSW Country Eagles.
University of Western Australia player and local Perth product Harry Scoble said the gold and black is an integral part of rugby in the state.
“They’re our state colours,” he said.
“Growing up in Perth, for the state under 15’s and 16’s we always wore those colours so it’s pretty good to get out there and play in the Perth colours,” Scoble said.
Scoble is especially looking forward to wearing the gold and black at his senior club’s home ground.
“I know all the holes and divets around the place so definitely get to have that advantage. It’ll be good to get out there,” the 23-year-old said.
“Perth always provides a good crowd, you can see that hill really full with people. I’m really excited to see the community come down and Perth really gets behind us.”
Having played for the Western Force and the Perth Spirit for the last four NRC seasons, Marcel Brache is passionate about wearing the colours.
“It’s obviously an amazing experience,” he said.
“A lot of the guys have been involved with playing and community work this year and to put on the gold jersey of WA is something that a lot of guys are excited about.
“We all feel it, we’re very excited to pull on the gold jersey and do it justice this coming Sunday.”
The team have invited us into their team meeting this morning to have a listen to what the gold and black jersey means to them.
