Good afternoon,

As we all know, public health restrictions currently in place to help us fight the Coronavirus have affected all walks of life.

The Western Force, rugby and sport in general is definitely one area that has been impacted dramatically.

In the wake of Global Rapid Rugby and Super Rugby suspensions last week, you may have heard that the Force and Rugby Australia were involved in discussions around the formation of an Australian-only rugby competition this year.

Unfortunately, the latest round of travel restrictions has meant that this concept has been stalled as well.

Rugby Australia today announced that the competition will be “on hold until at least May 1”. We will continue to work with Rugby Australia and our Global Rapid Rugby partners in the hope that the Western Force jersey can return to the playing arena at some stage in 2020.

While we await further developments, the players will continue to train individually in and around their homes.

Again, I thank you for your loyalty, support and patience during what are frustrating and uncertain times for all. We will provide further updates as available.

Thank you and stay safe.

Mark Evans
Global Rapid Rugby CEO
