New Force recruit Andrew Ready is packed with enthusiasm about making the move to Western Australia to commence the next part of his rugby journey.
The former Queensland Reds hooker is looking forward to the change and can’t wait to see what the inaugural Global Rapid Rugby competition holds.
“I’m really looking forward to a change of environment, I’m really excited to move out of Brisbane and to Perth and continue my rugby career,” Ready says.
“I imagine there will be a few challenges along the way but I am looking forward to a new challenge and hopefully get some wins too.”
Ready made his way through the Australian rugby pathway, representing Australia in the U20’s and Australian Schools teams, as well as being selected as part of the Barbarian FC in 2016 which was coached by legendary Wallaby coach Robbie Deans.
The 25-year-old hooker isn’t shy of the physicality of the sport and is excited to join in on the Force’s successful dominant scrum.
“I am very happy to join in the Force scrum. As a hooker, the scrum is the most important part of our job and there’s no better feeling than going over another teams scrum, so I’m very excited about joining in on that,” Ready says.
“I enjoy that aspect of the game. Getting up close an personal with the opposition is always fun.
“It’s a test of your own ability as well, and coming out on top of a dominant scrum is always amazing.”
Head coach Tim Sampson is thrilled to take on the promising young player and is looking forward to seeing how his rugby future develops.
“Andrew is a player who I believe has his best rugby ahead of him which is why we are excited about him linking with the club,” Sampson said.
“He had a very good 2016 and at 25 years of age has already been called into the Wallabies squad,” Sampson said.
He has the desire to one day pull on the Wallabies jersey again and hopefully, our club can assist him in doing that.”
“It will be an interesting battle for the number two jersey next year as we have absolute quality in that position.”
