With the upcoming Spring Series Tour against the Toyota Cheetahs fast approaching, the Western Force squad has returned from annual leave and are back training on home soil.

Fly-half Max Burey said, that having some time off to spend with family in his hometown of Wagga Wagga was a great way to refresh himself after the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific Season.

“Since my family is based over east, I took the opportunity to reconnect with them and now it’s great to be back with my teammates”.

“I got a couple of extra couple of games in while I was away on leave. I wanted to stay fit, and prevent drop off, knowing that we have some big games coming up in September - October against the Cheetahs.”

Western Force Head Coach, Simon Cron says the team have a big block of rugby ahead of them, with a 12-week window, including 4 games.

“We have discussed the importance of getting this series in place as a steppingstone between club rugby and the Super Rugby Pacific competition,”

“It’s critically important to get more rugby for our Super Rugby squad, as our competitors in New Zealand have moved into a full-time [National Provincial Championship] campaign, if they’re not participating in international competitions.”

The 2023 Spring Series will take place between late August and the start of October, with the fixtures being announced in the coming weeks.
