Western Force inside-centre Hamish Stewart will make his Wallabies debut on Sunday morning (WST) when Australia takes on Argentina in the Rugby Championship clash in La Plata.
Stewart, 26, has earned his international opportunity following a career-best 2024 Super Rugby campaign with the Force, that included finishing fourth in the league for tackles (180).
Toowoomba-born Stewart finished third in this year’s Nathan Sharpe medal voting, having also had a team-high 85 carries across the 2024 campaign.
Stewart, who brought up his 100th Super Rugby cap in Round 15 this year, comes into the side following Hunter Paisami’s knee injury which has ruled him out of the Argentina tour.
Stewart is joined in the Wallabies’ 23-player team list by Force trio Carlo Tizzano, Ben Donaldson and the returning Jeremy Williams, who missed the last Test in Perth with concussion.
Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt said: “The players have bounced back from the travel and time difference since arriving in Buenos Aires, with today’s training being our most energetic.”
“For us, we know the Argentinians will enjoy vocal home support but we’ve also had plenty of encouragement from back in Australia, which we have appreciated and will try to justify.”
