School rugby is back!

The UWA Western Force Cup, formerly known as the Rugby Schools Cup, is kicking off this Wednesday.

12 Schools across the metro area will battle it out in their respective hubs across eight weeks.

The competition will be separated by age groups, with schools submitting a boys and girls team in years 7/8 and 9/10.

Students in years 7/8 will play seven a side with seven-minute halves, with the years 9/10 team playing ten a side with ten-minute halves.

From there, the schools will be split across three hubs of North, South and Metro.

The Northern hub will contest at HBF Arena, whilst the Southern schools will play at Rockingham, with the Metro hub going head-to-head at UWA Sports Park (McGillivray Oval).

The schools battling it out up North will feature Lake Joondalup Baptist College, Quinns Baptist College, St Mark’s Anglican Community School, Joseph Banks Secondary College and Ellenbrook Secondary College.

South of the river will include Kings College, Thornlie Senior High School and Kolbe College.

The Metro hub will feature Shenton College, Churchlands Senior High School, John XXIII College and Aranmore Catholic College.

The top two teams from each hub will compete on the 21st of September at UWA Sports Park in a round-robin final to determine the 2022 UWA Western Force Cup champions.

RugbyWA will also be travelling to Albany and Geraldton to run their own competition, allowing regional schools the opportunity to showcase their rugby skills.
