Former Force star and Wallaby player Dane Haylett-Petty is looking forward to running out with the Force once again as part of this year’s National Rugby Championship.

Haylett-Petty was part of a host of players who moved to the Melbourne Rebels after last years axeing of the Western Force from Super Rugby but has been a strong supporter of the Force’s fight throughout this year.

“They’ve done a great job and the World Series Rugby side of things is pretty exciting, so who knows where that is going to end up,” Haylett-Petty said.

“I do think the Force has done such a good job to keep it going, I want to see that continue developing through the pathway.”

Despite many of the Wallabies test and Force games coinciding, the alignment means he will likely spend his time between test weeks in Perth where he will get to be closer to family and friends.

“When I’m not with the Wallabies, I’ll be here and hopefully get a chance to run with some of the old faces and some new faces I’ll get to meet today,” he said.

“I’ve still got all of my family here. I get to come over and spend some time with mum and my sister.”

The twenty-nine-year-old has been vocal about his passion for growing rugby in the west and sees the NRC season as a good opportunity to be a part of that.

“I want to be involved in rugby in WA in any capacity, so hopefully I’ll get to run out on the field but if not, I know I’m doing some coaching with some kids a little bit later on the in the week,” he said.

“I’m just trying to help out however I can and see rugby grow in WA so hopefully more West Australians put on the green and gold.”
