It was an historic Saturday in Sydney for Western Force pair Samantha Wood and Hera-Barb Malcolm Heke who made their international debuts.

The duo both earned their Australia caps coming off the bench in the Wallaroos’ 33-14 loss to Canada in their opening game of the Pacific Four Series at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.

Teenage scrum-half Wood entered the game in the 66th minute, replacing Layne Morgan, while hooker Malcolm Heke stepped in for Tania Naden in the 71st minute.

Both players were part of the Kalamunda side that won last year's WA Women's Premier Grade title. Wood joined Kala after playing with ARKS in her junior career.

Fellow Force stars Michaela Leonard and Trilleen Pomare both started for Australia, while the Force’s Canadian front-rower Sara Cline scored two tries for the visitors.

It was a big celebration for Kalamunda Districts Rugby Union Club, with three Kweenz players getting game-time in Wood, Pomare and Malcolm Heke.

The Wallaroos next face the USA at AAMI Park in Melbourne from 2:55pm WST, before facing New Zealand in Auckland on May 25.
