Throughout the off-season, we'll be catching up with Western Force Legends to look back on their storied careers and see what they are up to. This week, it's homegrown hero Kieran 'K-Bomb' Longbottom.

WF: What have you been up to?

After announcing my retirement last year, I’ve been busy setting up my business Total Recovery. Since returning to Perth from England in 2018, I’ve been working on setting up a recovery centre and service based on elite athlete recovery strategies and making those treatments and products accessible to everyone, so they can experience the benefits that helped me stay on the pitch.

WF: How have you enjoyed the start of your coaching career?

I’m also studying sport and exercise science at university, which has been really interesting to get into and I’ve started coaching at the Western Force Fortescue Academy. Coaching has been great fun, it’s nice to pass on my knowledge of body positioning and technical aspects of the scrum.

WF: What do you make of the trajectory of the Force?

I’ve spent nearly half my life at the Force after initially joining as an Academy player, so the club means a lot to me and I want to see everyone thrive. Being from WA, it’s fantastic to see a number of homegrown players in the program. I’m confident the club is heading in the right direction to developing more local players and nurturing them into making that next step to becoming Force Super Rugby and Wallabies players.
