The Western Force is pleased to confirm the signing of loosehead prop, Harry Hoopert, who has committed to the Force until the end of 2025.
The 24-year-old made his Super Rugby debut in an upset win over 2016-2017 Super Rugby finalists, the Lions at Suncorp Stadium, going on to make 48 caps for the Queensland Reds over six years.
Selected in the 2022 Australia A touring squad, Hoopert made five international appearances, ending in an unfortunate ACL injury in the side's 22-21 nail-biting win over the Japan XV in Fukuoka.
With a solid frame at 116kg, the Dalby boy is familiar with head coach Simon Cron and ready for the challenge he presents.
"Crono coached me in the U20 a few years ago; even then, he was incredibly detailed and thorough, which is what I am looking forward to gaining from him," Hoopert mentioned.
"I've been keeping a close eye on the Force for the last year, and the recent signings especially have caught my attention and made me want to make a move over.
I have been at the Reds for six years, so the move will be a welcomed change. The opportunity to come to a younger squad and help out, having input where I can, is exciting.
The coaches have built a strong group and I definitely believe that the Force can build on last season."
Head Coach Simon Cron shared his anticipation for Hoopert's integration into the squad for the upcoming 2024 season.
"Harry's addition brings depth to our front row. With 48 Super Caps and Australia A appearances, his experience is invaluable. He'll challenge and elevate his fellow players on a daily basis, both on and off the training field."
Cron further highlighted Hoopert's game knowledge, set-piece prowess, and leadership qualities, emphasising the positive impact he will have on the team's dynamic and performance.
