The Western Force add ‘x-factor’ to its 2022 Super Rugby Pacific squad with the signing of outside back Daniel Ala.

The 19-year-old New South Welshman joins the Force from NRL side Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and has represented Australia in the World Schools Sevens competition.

The speedster has also earned national call-ups for the Australian U18s and Schools side alongside Force lock Jackson Pugh and new recruit Reesjan Pasitoa.

Growing up playing both rugby codes, Ala is determined to make his mark in union with the Force.

“Watching the Western Force over the last two years and seeing how far they’ve come has been great,” Ala said.

“I’ve heard nothing but good things about the club and I knew it was time to make the move. My main priority now is to come in and have a strong pre-season.”

Force head coach Tim Sampson is pleased to be adding another talented Australian player to the squad.

“Daniel’s a dynamic and powerful winger who enjoyed a strong junior career in union before being picked up by Manly, where he played some pre-season trial games this year. He’s an exciting player and we’re looking forward to his transition back to union,” Sampson explained.

“He’s a great ball runner who has that x-factor about him, which is crucial for his position.”
