Next month’s Western Force vs British & Irish Lions Long Lunch at Optus Stadium has just got even better with confirmation that touring assistant coach John Fogarty will be a guest speaker.
Fogarty, who is Ireland’s scrum coach and one of the British & Irish Lions assistant coaches, joins Andrew Goodman as a guest speaker at the event, which will be MCed by respected Stan Sport Rugby presenter Nick McArdle.
The speaking line-up will offer an amazing insight from inside the touring Lions camp. More guest speakers will be announced in coming weeks, leading up to the event.
The official Western Force vs British and Irish Lions Long Lunch will be held at Optus Stadium’s River View Room on Friday 27 June from 1pm-4pm ahead of the two sides’ tour game at the venue.
The Force-Lions game is the tour opener ahead of a thrilling once-every-12-years series that includes three Tests against the Wallabies.
Fogarty is the brains behind one of the best scrums in world rugby, earning his opportunity to work under Andy Farrell on the Lions’ tour via his work with Ireland and Leinster.
As a player, Fogarty was a highly respected hooker for Munster and Connacht between 2000 and 2008, before moving to Leinster where he was part of the side that won the 2009 Heineken Cup. He also represented his country as a player, before moving into coaching.
Be part of this once-every-12-years event which will include a three-course lunch, guest speakers from the Lions camp and the chance to watch the touring side in the flesh training at Optus Stadium ahead of Saturday’s Force-Lions tour game.
The tour will see the Lions play nine matches in Australia, with three Tests against the Wallabies, and six tour games around the country starting in Perth.
