The Western Force are delighted to confirm the re-signing of talented former Australia U20s utility back Ronan Leahy.
Leahy, who turned 21 last month, is an emerging talent who came through the Fortescue Academy before debuting for the Force late in the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season away to the Queensland Reds.
He played two games for the Force last season, before further showcasing his potential at the 2024 World Rugby U20 Championship for Australia with two tries at inside-centre, earning selection in the Team of the Tournament.
Tickets to the Force-Lions game are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
The Papua New Guinea-born Academy graduate had previously toured with the senior Force squad in South Africa for the 2023 Toyota Challenge, also scoring a try against the Cheetahs in Perth in that series.
Force head coach Simon Cron was thrilled to see Leahy re-commit to the Club, labelling him the future of the club.
Cron said: “He’s still young but has a lot of upside. He's continuing to develop his game.
“He’s working really hard on developing his repeatability and physicality in the game. Sometimes we forget those things take a little bit of time.
“He’s a lovely person who is constantly wanting to learn and he’s continuing to learn what it looks like it for him at Super Rugby level.
“He’s one of those players who is the future of the club so it’s important we keep helping him grow.”
Former St Joseph’s College student Leahy was rapt to extend his time in Perth with the Force.
“I’ve loved my time at the Force since coming over,” Leahy said. “I really enjoy the environment and working with the staff.
“I love the character of the playing group, which makes it feel like the place to be. The playing group is class with a mix of younger and senior players, which is a great environment to learn the game.
“Each year I’ve been here we are getting better and better and I want to be part of where the club is going with the trajectory it’s on.”
