The Western Force are thrilled to announce the re-signing of utility back Max Burey for the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Burey, 26, has become a stable of the Force team over the past few seasons, providing flexibility at fly-half and full-back.

Wagga Wagga-born Burey has earned 26 caps for the Force, including 12 appearances this season, mostly off the bench where he made an impact with his running and kicking game, with 29 ball carries and 453 kicking metres.

The versatile back made his debut for the Force away to the Crusaders in Round 11 of the 2023 season, thrust into the starting line-up at fly-half. He was a co-captain of the Force side that toured South Africa for the 2023 Toyota Challenge.

Burey was also part of the Northern Suburbs’ side that went down narrowly in last season’s NSW Shute Shield Grand Final to Eastern Suburbs.

Force head coach Simon Cron was delighted to see Burey re-commit to the Club, noting his strengths.

Cron said: “Max has the ability to play first five-eighth and full-back, which gives us some flexibility in the squad.

“He’s very diligent around understanding how we want to play and what we want to do. He’s continuing to grow his game at the Western Force.

“He has great feet and is continuing to develop his game management which is really exciting for the team.

“He’s a good team man and has some close relationships with other players in our team which is a big part of cohesion and developing a squad that can go deep into finals.”

Burey was ecstatic to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Force, stating his excitement about the direction of the Club.

“I love what I do, and I love the organisation as a whole, so to be extended the opportunity to continue to do so, makes me very pleased,” Burey said.

“It’s a great club with loyal fans. It’s a great part of the world and I have developed some great relationships here and want to continue on the journey with those people.

“I’ve been here for three years now and each year the organisation as a whole has continued to improve year on year.

“There is a real strive to get better in all areas so I’m excited to see what heights we can reach as a club.”
