Western Force captain Trilleen Pomare says her side “moved mountains in the west” after reflecting on the 2025 SMARTECH Super Rugby Women’s which ended in Sunday’s semi-final.
The Force were knocked out of the race for the Super W Grand Final in a 54-17 loss to the NSW Waratahs in Sydney on Sunday.
The side, however, reached the Super W semi-finals for the second successive season, following last year’s first-ever post-season finish.
“It doesn’t take away from our season this year,” Pomare said.
“We moved mountains back in the west. I’m just thankful to our support back home.”
The Force rallied back from an early 19-0 deficit to put pressure on the ‘Tahs on Sunday, trailing 19-12 at the break.
But the home side ran away with the game with five second-half tries to one, with Pomare philosophical in defeat.
“We were good in patches,” she said. “We just weren’t good for the full 80. I think the scoreboard reflects that.”
The Force endured a frustrating run of injuries in the back-end of the season, that also included plenty of travel with trips to Brisbane and Sydney in back-to-back weeks, but the Force skipper downplayed that impact.
“We won’t use that as an excuse,” the two-time World Cup Wallaroo said. “We just weren’t the better team on the day.
“That’s finals footy. We just need to come back and be better. We need to execute. We know that.
“We know the scoreboard doesn’t really reflect our season, so we won’t dwell on that.
“We’ll take the positives forward and just keep moving.”
