The famous global tyre giant Yokohama has come on board to partner with the Western Force for the Super Rugby Pacific season.
Yokohama has graced the back of the Force’s 20th anniversary jersey for the past two games and will again in Saturday’s clash with the Waratahs, as well as the upcoming British and Irish Lions tour opener at Optus Stadium on Saturday 28 June.
Yokohama recently acquired Goodyear’s Off the Road tyre division. Goodyear, which has been a partner of the Force for several years, will retain its brand in Australia and will remain on the side panels of the Western Force jersey.
Yokohama vice president of global sales John Black said: “Yokohama identified this a great opportunity to further enhance our exposure and to show our ongoing support Australian Rugby and the Western Force in particular.”
Western Force general manager of business operations Tyson Beattie applauded the support of Yokohama.
He said: “We have enjoyed tremendous support from John Black and his team at Goodyear for the past few years and it is fantastic that such an iconic brand as Yokohama will now also be associated with the Force.
“The British and Irish Lions match at Optus Stadium will be viewed by millions around the world and that is a wonderful opportunity for both the Force and Yokohama to reach a global audience and a great celebration of rugby.”
