Joshua Smith

Emerging tighthead prop Smith joined the Force on an injury cover contract early in the 2025 season where he went on to make six appearances off the bench and sign a new two-year deal. Smith debuted as a late inclusion in a memorable away win over the Brumbies. Smith, who has Fijian and Tongan parentage, previously played for Hawke’s Bay in New Zealand’s NPC as well as with New Zealand’s Under-20s where he met former Force forwards coach Tom Donnelly, who helped bring him west. He played five games for New Zealand at the 2024 Under-20 World Championship in South Africa, where the Baby Blacks finished third.
