The Western Force is elated to announce the re-signings of front-rowers Tom Horton and Charlie Hancock through to 2024 and 2025, respectively.
Horton enjoyed a breakout season in 2023, playing all 14 fixtures, including a standout performance against the Highlanders, defeating the Kiwi-based side 30-17 at HBF Park. The 26-year-old started the match at hooker and finished in the back-row displaying a gritty, versatile performance in his ninth game in the Force jersey.
The 40-capped hooker relishes the opportunity to play under head coach Simon Cron, confident that Super Rugby suits his shape and skill set.
"Moving into next season, I want to work with Crono closer on my set piece and continue to develop other aspects of my game that I know I can take to the next level," Horton mentioned.
"I have full belief that we will take it further next season. We missed the mark in some areas this year, but having one year under Crono now, the boys know his expectations and what we need to do to achieve success."
In his rookie year, Hancock was tested with a lengthy hamstring injury ruling him out for the start of the season. The loosehead prop earnt his way into the starting side in Round 10, running on for his debut against the Queensland Reds at Suncorp Stadium.
The Sydney Uni product, who currently plays for Cottesloe, went on to play against the Crusaders in New Zealand.
"I've had an interrupted season, so I am grateful the coaches have shown faith in me by re-signing me, and I'm excited to be a part of this club moving forward," Hancock commented.
"I've loved my first season here. There is a great bunch of boys who have been very welcoming. The Force have a great supporter base with very loyal fans it is a great place to work and live.
We are building something really promising here at the Force. We have built on the combinations with a young group throughout the year, improving each week. It is promising with most of the younger group sticking around for next season.
With the small success we have had this year it is only making us hungrier for the year ahead."
