The Western Force are proud to announce their first indigenous jersey designed especially for their clash against Apia, Samoa in World Series Rugby’s Indigenous round on Saturday, July 14.

The one of a kind jersey is designed by world-renowned artist Peter Farmer who is celebrated by the art community for capturing the essence of Indigenous culture.

Farmers’s artwork is internationally recognised with the likes fashion icon Jimmy Choo and the West Coast Eagles on his previous list of clients.

The Western Force boys are honoured to be able to showcase this unique jersey in support of Indigenous culture in Western Australia.

With many of the Force players growing up in Western Australia, the opportunity to don such a significant piece of work from such a prestigious artist will be a surreal moment for many of the players.

Like all of Farmer’s work, the unique Indigenous Force jersey has its own story to tell.

Farmer highlights the Black Swan to emphasise the significance of being the only Swan in the world that builds their nest around its family, an ideal that the Force has demonstrated for many years.

He said the symbols depicted on the jersey represent the Western Force community and the rugby journey it is on.

“The jersey’s design has two families represented,” the artist said.

“The first and smaller is the team and the inner workings that include the coach and support staff.”

“The larger symbol that represents the family in our culture, coloured yellow, is the larger family, the sponsors, the supporters and the fans as well as the whole of the state of Western Australia.”

Peter’s designs have encouraged a strong connection with the Force as the ambitious culture of the club can be identified in his work as the Force seek to help make rugby a community-building sport in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Western Force will wear the Indigenous inspired kit when they take on Samoa at nib Stadium on July 14.
