The Western Force today confirms the addition of emerging Argentina international scrum-half Agustin Moyano for the 2026 Swyftx Super Rugby Pacific season.

Moyano, 22, will join the Force on an injury cover contract for young scrum-half Doug Philipson who’ll be unavailable for an extended period due to an ACL injury.

The Los Pumas half-back has earned five caps for Argentina, debuting off the bench against England in San Juan in July this year.

He was in the Argentina team for three of their past four internationals, including both games against the Wallabies in Australia as part of The Rugby Championship.

Cordoba-born Moyano was part of the Dogos team that won last year’s Super Rugby Americas title, teaming up with fellow Force recruit Franco Molina who captained that side.

Prior to that, he was Argentina’s starting scrum-half at the 2023 World Rugby U20 Championship where he played all five games in the South Africa tournament.

His addition provides the Force with further half-back options alongside 2024 Rising Star Henry Robertson and WA-born-and-bred recruit Nathan Hastie who has returned to Perth after several seasons with the Highlanders.

Force head coach Simon Cron said: “Moyano is an exciting, talented half-back who has international experience and a huge amount of energy.

“He is a player who’ll add to our team with his great running game and core skills.

“We have three genuine half-backs in our squad, competing for that starting spot so that’ll bring out the best in them.”

Moyano added: “I’m very excited to join the club. It’s a new experience for me and I’ll bring a lot of energy. I can’t wait to start training with the team.

“One of the main reasons to join is to play Super Rugby, which is a really good tournament. It’s also a big step for my career. I’m very happy to share the team with Franco.

“I watched the Force a lot when Jaguares played in Super Rugby. It’s a team that used to have a lot of Argentina boys so I’m excited to join.”

Moyano is currently with the Los Pumas squad in the United Kingdom for three Tests this month against Wales, Scotland and England. As a result, he will link up with the Force later in pre-season.

The Force's 2026 Super Rugby Pacific squad will be announced on Thursday 6 November.
