Sawers in action as Fortescue Premier Grade finals set to kick off

Fortescue Academy back-rower Dane Sawers will be in action this Saturday when the WA Fortescue Premier Grade finals get underway.

Kicking off at 3pm at UWA Sports Park this Saturday, Conference B top two UWA and Kalamunda will fight it out in their quarter-final. The winner will play Palmyra on Saturday 31 August.

Academy forward Dane Sawers will line up for the Bulls, who won the Rendezvous Scarborough Challenge Cup earlier this year. Brother Max Sawers is unavailable.

The loser of UWA-Kalamunda will play Issak Fines-Leleiwasa’s Perth Bayswater in the promotion match for a spot in Conference A next season.

Fourth-placed Nedlands will face third-placed Cottesloe from 3:30pm at Harvey Field on Saturday 24 August with the game live on Stan Sport. The winner will play Associates in the semi-final on Saturday 31 August.

The Fortescue Premier Grade women’s finals will commence on Saturday 31 August with ladder-leading Wanneroo to host Wests-Scarborough and second-placed Kalamunda to welcome Palmyra.

Elsewhere, Max Burey, Henry O’Donnell and Siosifa Amone will line up for Northern Suburbs in their NSW Shute Shield elimination final against Randwick from 10:30am WST on Saturday at North Sydney Oval.

In Queensland’s Hospital Cup, Harry Hoopert and Finn Prass’ Brothers have qualified for the grand final on Sunday 1 September. Wests and UQ will face off this Sunday for a spot in the decider.
